Electrical Savings
Posted on Feb 3, 2010  Comments (0)

The electricity bills for the building common areas went down in 2009. While the savings in dollars is mainly due to lower prices per Kilowatt, the building usage dropped from the previous year in all but three months.

These savings in usage are due to minor changes being made like switching hall sconces to fluorescent bulbs and keeping common area A/C unit filters and condensers clean.   You might think of a way you can apply the same minor items to save electricity usage in your unit.

Things you can do to help:

Make sure the garbage room light goes on and off each time you enter
and leave the chute room.  If it is already on ask Lori to reset the motion switch.

Make sure that exterior doors close completely when you enter or exit the building.

You might even be able to apply some of the savings tips above to your unit to see individual savings!

Reminders
Garage Doors

When entering or exiting the building, please allow the garage doors to close completely prior to reactivating.  Stopping the doors in mid-cycle creates stress on the metal parts and causes them to fail.  Just last week, a spring was broken and several hinges were bent.
